VFC Announce Two Friendly Matches against Local All-Star Teams

Vancouver FC unveils crest, colours; Afshin Ghotbi named first head coach

Langley, BC – Vancouver FC today announced two pre-season friendly matches against local soccer league all-stars in preparation for its second campaign in the Canadian Premier League (CPL).

Vancouver will first compete against a team made up of top talent from Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL) on Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2024. The match will be contested at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey, B.C with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.

The following week, VFC will host a pre-season friendly against an all-star team comprised of top players from Fraser Valley Soccer League (FVSL). The match on Wednesday, Mar. 27 will be played at Willoughby Community Park in Langley, B.C. starting at 7 p.m. PT.

Local media is invited to attend both matches for a first look at the newly-constructed Vancouver squad. Media is asked to notify Katelyn White, Public Relations & Communications Coordinator for VFC, at katelyn.white@vancouverfc.com of any plans to attend either match.

Select players and/or Afshin Ghotbi, Head Coach of Vancouver FC, will be made available to the media in attendance by Vancouver’s Communications Department following each match.

Both matches are free for the public to attend.

Vancouver recently released the club’s primary kit for the 2024 CPL season, the Eagle Kit. The new kit made its debut in a friendly against B.C. rival Pacific FC on Saturday, Mar. 16 and will be worn once more in pre-season for Vancouver’s friendly against VMSL All-Stars on Mar. 20.

Vancouver kicks off its second season in the CPL when the Eagles host their season opener on Sunday, Apr. 14 against Valour FC. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET at Willoughby Community Park with tickets available to be purchased online.
