Five Columbus Crew Players Receive National Team Call-Ups

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew goalkeepers Nicolas Hagen and Patrick Schulte, Homegrown midfielders Taha Habroune and Aidan Morris, forward Jacen Russell-Rowe, and Crew Academy defender Tristan Brown have been called-up by their respective national teams for the upcoming FIFA International Break.

Schulte and Morris have been selected to United States Under-23 side’s 22-player roster for a training camp in Spain and France as the USA continues its preparations for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The U.S. will face Guinea on Friday, March 22 in Olot, Spain and France on March 25 in Montbeliard.

This summer marks the return of the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team to the Games for the first time since 2008. The Men’s Olympic Soccer Tournament is restricted to players under the age of 23, with an allowance for three overage players.

Both Schulte and Morris took part in the U.S. Men’s National Team’s January Training Camp earlier this year, marking Schulte’s first senior call-up while Morris took part in the 2022 edition.

Morris made his senior international debut on Jan. 25, 2023, in a friendly against Serbia and has five caps for the USMNT.

Schulte previously represented the U.S. at the Under-18, U-20 and U-23 levels. The 23-year-old made his senior international debut on Jan. 20, earning the start against Slovenia in a match that also featured Morris and Crew Homegrown midfielder Sean Zawadzki in the starting XI.

Russell-Rowe has been selected to Canada’s 23-player roster for the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League Play-In at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on March 23. The one-game playoff will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Copa América this summer. Canada plays Trinidad & Tobago for one of the final two Concacaf spots in the 2024 Copa América, jointly organized by CONMEBOL and Concacaf.

Russell-Rowe made his senior national team debut in Canada’s Concacaf Gold Cup opener, entering in the second half of a 4-2 win over Cuba on July 4, 2023, and appeared in three tournament matches. Most recently, the 21-year-old was called-in for Canada’s Concacaf Nations League matches against Jamaica in Nov. 2023. The Crew forward has earned four senior caps to date.

The winner of the Play-In match will join already qualified Concacaf countries (Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and the United States), along with the winner of the additional play-in match on March 23 between Honduras and Costa Rica, for a total of six…
