CPKC Stadium Named Host for Big 12 Soccer Championship

TEMPE – As Sun Devil soccer moves to the Big 12 this fall, the conference announced last week that CPKC Stadium, home of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, has been selected as the host site for the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship in a two-year agreement for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship will consist of 11 matches contested between October 30, November 2, November 6, and November 9. Expanding to 16 teams for the 2024 season, the top 12 squads will advance to the championship following the conclusion of Big 12 play, with the top four seeds receiving a bye into the quarterfinals.

Coming off a 10-7-4 season and a second consecutive trip to the NCAA National Championship, ASU will have a chance to compete in its first conference championship this fall. The winner of the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship earned an automatic invite to the NCAA Championship, which went to outgoing program Texas last season.

BYU and Texas Tech also qualified for the 2023 NCAA Championship, with Texas and Texas Tech reaching the third round, while BYU reached the National Semifinals. Nine of the 16 teams that will play in the Big 12 in 2024 had an RPI in the top 100 last season.

Arizona State has qualified for the NCAA National Championship 10 times in program history, including three times in the past four seasons. The 2023 appearance marked just the second time in program history the Sun Devils made the field in consecutive seasons.

The 2024 Sun Devils look to return 20 players who appeared in a game for the team last season, including nine starters. The team has three games and a 7v7 tournament remaining on its spring schedule. The 2024 season schedule will be announced later this spring.
