FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will take the field at Gillette Stadium for the first time this year, looking to advance in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup against Club Atlético Independiente of Panama on Thursday night. The second leg of the Round One series, in which New England leads 1-0 on aggregate, kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET in Foxborough. The contest airs nationally on FOX Sports 2 in English and TUDN in Spanish. Listen locally on the radio via 1260 AM “Nossa Radio USA” in Portuguese.

New England began its 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over CAI last Wednesday night in Panama. Forward Tomás Chancalay notched the lone goal of the evening, converting with his first touch off a headed flick from striker Giacomo Vrioni. The result gave the Revolution a one-goal lead entering the second leg, meaning a draw or win on Thursday will see New England through to the Round of 16. Thursday will also mark the home debut for Revolution Head Coach Caleb Porter. Porter owns an 8-3-2 all-time coaching record in Concacaf Champions Cup play following last week’s victory at CAI.

Goalkeeper Henrich Ravas made his Revolution debut in last Wednesday’s match, recording two saves to earn the clean sheet. The shutout was the fifth by a Revolution goalkeeper in their first start for the club, and just the third time New England registered a shutout in Concacaf Champions Cup play. Ravas was supported by a veteran defensive line consisting of DeJuan Jones, Andrew Farrell, Dave Romney, and Nick Lima, all of whom owned prior Champions Cup experience. For Lima, it was also his club debut after the former Austin FC and San Jose Earthquakes defender arrived in the offseason. Eight Revolution players made their Concacaf Champions Cup debuts in the first leg – starters Chancalay, Vrioni, Ravas, and Nacho Gil, along with substitutes Esmir Bajraktarević and Noel Buck, Ian Harkes, and Bobby Wood.

Through five matches in the 2024 Liga Panameña de Fútbol Apertura, CA Independiente sits in second place in the league’s Western Conference with a 2-1-2 record. Reigning LPF Most Valuable Player Víctor Ávila headlines a young, talented roster for the three-time defending Panamanian champions, tallying a team-high three goals to date in 2024 after scoring 13 goals in 18 games during the 2023 Clausura.
