Rohan McEligot and the Bears will play six games – including the April 6 alumni game – this spring.

The California men’s soccer team will play a competitive spring schedule that features the Oakland Roots, San Jose Earthquakes II and a bevy of collegiate opponents – along with the program’s alumni game – head coach Leonard Griffin announced Tuesday.

In the midst of their offseason after posting a 7-6-5 record in 2023, the Golden Bears are preparing for season three of Griffin’s coaching tenure in the fall.

Cal kicks off its spring against the Oakland Roots – a professional team in its fourth year in the USL Championship – on Friday at 11 a.m. PT at Cal State East Bay in Hayward. After that game, Cal takes on host Cal State East Bay at Pioneer Stadium at 1:30 p.m.

On March 9, the Bears face the San Jose Earthquakes II – the MLS NEXT affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes MLS club – at a time and site to be determined. The Earthquakes II feature Cal signee Arseni Metelitsa, who could play against his future teammates in that game.

Cal plays its second college foe March 16 at 3 p.m., when the Bears clash with Santa Clara at Stevens Stadium in the South Bay.

Before returning to its regular slate of spring opponents, Cal welcomes its erstwhile Bears to compete in the annual alumni game April 6 at 2 p.m. at Golden Bear Field in Berkeley. Alums, please contact Cal assistant coach and fellow alum Jacob Wilson at jake.wilson@berkeley.edu if you would like to play in the game. Admission is free to the public.

On April 13, Cal heads to Stockton to play Chico State at 2:30 p.m. and host Pacific at 5 p.m.

In their last match of the spring, the Bears play Saint Mary’s on April 20 at 7 p.m. in Moraga.
