February 23, 2024 – Major League Soccer (MLS)New York City FC News Release

New York City FC have confirmed the full list of squad numbers ahead of Saturday evening’s MLS season opener against Charlotte FC.

With a number of new additions, let’s get familiar with the roster as we head into a packed 2024 campaign.

Forward Jovan Mijatović arrived from Red Star Belgrade this month and he has chosen the #7 shirt, previously worn by Alfredo Morales.

His compatriot Strahinja Tanasijević will wear the #12. He becomes the fifth player to wear the number after Josh Saunders, John Stertzer, Ebenezer Ofori, and Malte Amundsen.

One of the first signings of the offseason saw Andrés Perea return to the Five Boroughs permanently after a promising loan spell in 2023.

The U.S. international has decided to switch it up in 2024, swapping the #15 shirt for the #8.

Elsewhere, Argentine forward Agustín Ojeda has decided to wear #26 during his first season with NYCFC.

Ojeda becomes the third player in Club history to wear that number following on from fellow South Americans Nicolás Acevedo and Sebastián Velásquez.

Austrian midfielder Hannes Wolf will wear #17 for the first time in his club career, while fellow new arrival Tomás Romero has chosen #26.

The shot-stopper explained upon joining the Club that this number has been a constant throughout his career, and he hopes it brings him further success in this latest chapter.

The highest number on the roster belongs to Malachi Jones. The talented young forward was selected by NYCFC in the SuperDraft and will wear #88 this season.

NYCFC will kick off the 2024 MLS season on Feb. 24 when we visit Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium (7:30 pm ET).
