February 16, 2024 – United Soccer League Championship (USL) – Hartford Athletic News Release
Hartford Athletic forward Kyle Edwards will return to Hartford for the 2024 season.
“It feels great to be back in Hartford for another season,” said Edwards. “I’m determined to take another step forward in my career and to give these fans a season to be proud of. I can’t wait to begin developing chemistry with the new players on our roster, and I’m excited to play under Coach Burke’s aggressive attacking style.”
Edwards puts his Green and Blue kit back on for the 2024 season after the best campaign of his professional career in 2023, second on the team in goals (seven) and adding three assists. The 28 year old appeared in 26 matches, 10 of which were starts.
“We’re happy to bring a goalscorer like Kyle back into the fold this year” said Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke. “He adds another layer of depth to our attacking unit, and we expect him to compete for minutes with our talented group of strikers.”
Edwards was drafted as the 86th overall pick by the Houston Dynamo in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. After getting drafted, he spent two seasons in the USL Championship with Rio Grande Valley FC, where he recorded six goals and three assists in 23 appearances with the club. Internationally, Edwards has earned 26 caps for his home country Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, scoring four goals. In his most recent appearance in March of 2023, he netted a PK against the Bahamas in CONCACAF Nations League play.
