Gotham FC Signs Defender Maycee Bell to Multiyear Contract

HARRISON, NJ – NJ/NY Gotham FC today announced that the club has signed its 14th overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft Maycee Bell to a guaranteed multiyear contract through 2026.

“I am very excited to be a part of Gotham FC,” said Bell. “I am looking forward to growing as a player and a person at this club, and I cannot wait to help build upon the success of last season.”


Gotham FC selected Bell from the University of North Carolina, where she was regarded as one of the top collegiate defensive players since starting every match of her freshman season in 2019. Over the course of her Tarheel career, she earned four ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors and was named the ACC’s Freshman of the Year. She also appeared in two NCAA College Cup Finals in the four seasons she played.

“Maycee has integrated into our team and style of play very well this preseason,” said Gotham FC Head Coach Juan Carlos Amorós. “She is a strong player and has shown great professionalism in her short time with the club.”

Bell is in her first preseason training camp with Gotham FC. The club began preseason training in Florida on Jan. 30, and the club will soon depart to compete in The Women’s Cup in Cali, Colombia from Feb. 27-March 2.

“Maycee has been tremendous in preseason, and we are thrilled to see her continued growth with the club,” said Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West.

Reigning NWSL Champions NJ/NY Gotham FC will return to action for the first time this year, with the stars of the 2023 title run joined by new high-profile signings, to compete in the single-match 2024 NWSL Challenge Cup against San Diego Wave FC on March 15 at Red Bull Arena.
