Miami FC Adds Former Club Star Ariel Martínez to 2024 Technical Staff

Miami FC Completes Record-Breaking Tryout Weekend; Club Eyes Preseason as Training Camp Nears

The Miami Football Club announced today the return of Ariel Martínez as he joins the team as an assistant with the technical staff for the 2024 season. The former Miami player will work alongside Antonio Nocerino and his coaching staff to ensure the success of this season’s squad.


After nine years of playing professionally, Martínez is beginning his transition into a coaching role. The Cuban made his professional debut in 2015 with Charleston Battery in the USL Cup. The following season he signed with Miami FC where he played for four seasons. Martínez competed in the NASL Fall and Spring Championships with Miami, including reaching the 2017 Playoffs. He also was a member of the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup squads for Miami during those seasons.

In 2020, Martínez made his USL Championship debut when he signed with FC Tulsa. That season, he scored two goals and had four assists. Martínez signed back with Miami for the 2021 season when the club joined the USL Championship and tallied six goals and seven assists that season, including taking the team to the playoffs.

Continuing his career in the USL Championship, Martínez signed with Hartford Athletic for 2022 and in-state rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies where he concluded his playing career. Martínez tallies a career total of 31 goals and 24 assists in 141 appearances.

Martínez also holds the honor of representing Cuba on their National Team. On the international stage, Martínez won the 2012-2013 Carribean Cup in which he was the competition’s top scorer. He also played in multiple Gold Cups, international friendlies, and World Qualifiers for Cuba.
