Strykers Trade Max Ferdinand to Milwaukee Wave

Empire Strykers Set Franchise Records in Win over Flash

January 31, 2024 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Empire Strykers News Release

Ontario, Calif. – The Empire Strykers today announced they have traded Max Ferdinand to fellow Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) outfit Milwaukee Wave in exchange for cash considerations. The Strykers acquired the rights to Ferdinand on December 9, 2023, with an eye toward a subsequent transaction, as the 37-year-old attacker hoped to reunite with his family, which is based in Milwaukee. Ferdinand has not trained nor played in a game with Empire.

The high-profile move will see the accomplished forward once again don the jersey of the club with which he enjoyed five successful campaigns between 2015 and 2020. Over the course of his previous stint with the Wave, Ferdinand never finished a regular season with a points-per-game average of less than 2.0. After finishing 2016-17 with a career-high average of 2.7, in 2018-19 the Haitian not only led Milwaukee to the MASL championship but was also named to the All-MASL First Team.

Between fall 2021 and spring 2023, Ferdinand spent one season with the St. Louis Ambush and two seasons with the Baltimore Blast, the club with which he had risen to legendary status between 2009 and 2015, scoring nearly 100 goals, most of them in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).

While the Milwaukee Wave hosts the Harrisburg Heat on Saturday, February 3, the Empire Strykers hope to make it consecutive victories when they welcome the high-flying Monterrey Flash to Ontario on Sunday February 4. Tickets to the clash at Toyota Arena are available.
