San Francisco – Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), have acquired the rights to young Ghanaian international Princess Marfo through a transfer with Danish club FC Nordsjælland in exchange for a transfer fee, the club announced today. Following the transfer, the forward was signed to a contract through the 2025 season with an option for the 2026 campaign. She will join the team and be added to the roster pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

“Princess is an exciting, young talent that we are thrilled to be bringing to our club and into the NWSL,” said Bay FC General Manager Lucy Rushton. “She has already shown tremendous growth and potential since joining FCN, and we believe that our environment will help continue to foster her skills as a professional. She will add another dimension to our attack, and I am looking forward to seeing her hit the ground running with our group.”

Marfo began her soccer career as part of the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana and became the first female in the academy to make the move to FC Nordsjælland during the 2021-22 season at the age of 18. Marfo made her debut for the club in the 2-0 win over Fortuna Hjorring in March 2022, during a league game and set a record by becoming the first female Right to Dream graduate to get playing time in Nordsjaelland’s first team. She appeared in five games for the first team during that season.

During the 2022-23 season, Marfo made the full transition to the first team, scoring her first goal on Oct. 14, 2022, in a 2-1 win against Brondby IF. She finished the season, appearing in 22 games while tallying two goals. In the most recent 2023-24 campaign, Marfo has one goal in 12 appearances for the Danish club.
