CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC tied 2-2 with the New York Red Bulls in the team’s second preseason match of 2024 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., earlier today.
New York scored in the 38th minute via Emil Forsberg with a long-range shot but the Fire responded in the 41st minute with a goal from midfielder Brian Gutiérrez, off an assist from defender Andrew Gutman. A goal from Tom Barlow in the 71st minute put the Fire ahead, but the Red Bulls managed to tie the game with a goal from Elias Manoel in the 79th minute to seal the final score.
The Fire will return to Chicago before embarking on the second half of preseason training in California from Feb. 5-17. While in California, the Fire will participate in the Coachella Valley Invitational, facing off against Austin FC, LAFC, Minnesota United FC, and the Portland Timbers.
