SEATTLE, WA. – Seattle Reign FC today announced its roster ahead of the 2024 NWSL preseason. The club’s current preseason roster is comprised of 26 players, including 20 players who are currently under contract for the 2024 season. Additionally, 18 of the players were rostered in 2023 to help the club reach its third NWSL Championship.

“The two-part, California-Costa Rica, preseason trip, followed by continued preparations back in Seattle, will really give us an indication of where we see our new players and trialists fitting in to the squad,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “It gives the players time to be in a more isolated environment to bond and learn about the expectations and culture of Reign FC. We want to build on our run to the final last year, by again optimizing our depth, whilst also improving in all facets of the game with a new group. We’re excited about the work ahead.”

Seattle Reign FC players who re-signed with the team, extended their contracts or had their option exercised ahead of the 2024 season include goalkeepers Claudia Dickey, Laurel Ivory and Maia Pérez, defenders Ryanne Brown, Alana Cook and Shae Holmes, midfielders Olivia Athens and Nikki Stanton and forwards Bethany Balcer and Tziarra King.

In addition, defender Jimena Lopez and midfielder Luany are continuing their loan in Liga F, the top-tier women’s football league in Spain, through June.

“It’s an exciting time to get the players together and begin our preparations for the 2024 season,” said Seattle Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey. “Last season, we truly showed the depth and quality we have to be successful and I think preseason is an important time to see what our roster looks like so we can continue pushing forward.”

Recently acquired South Korean midfielder Ji So-Yun will join the club in preseason following receipt of her visa. The 32-year-old has registered 154 caps for South Korea and is the squad’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

Seattle Reign FC will also welcome all three of its unsigned 2024 NWSL Draft picks to preseason training: University of North Carolina midfielder Sam Meza (17th overall), Notre Dame forward Maddie Mercado (27th overall) and Saint Mary’s College of California defender Makena Carr (43rd overall).

The club has also invited forwards Gianna Gourley, Juju Harris and Emeri Adames as non-roster invitees for preseason camp.
