Thorns FC Announce Five Re-Signings Ahead of 2023 Season

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have announced its 2024 preseason roster as the team begins training camp. Thorns FC will be in Portland, Ore. until February 17 when the team will travel to Santa Monica, Calif., where they will train ahead of the Coachella Valley Invitational, before returning to Oregon to continue preparations for the season opener.


Portland will begin the preseason with 22 players, 16 of which return to the Rose City from last year’s squad, including Meghan Klingenberg, Becky Sauerbrunn and Christine Sinclair, all three of whom recently signed one-year contracts to remain with the Thorns for 2024.

The group also includes the five players selected in the 2024 NWSL Draft, including Payton Linnehan (11th overall), Olivia Wade-Katoa (23rd overall), Kelsey Kaufusi (25th overall), Kat Asman (39th overall) and Katie Duong (53rd overall).

Additionally, Danish international defender Isabella Obaze has yet to arrive in Portland, as she is awaiting approval of her P1 visa, but is expected to join preseason soon.

Forwards (6): Janine Beckie, Izzy D’Aquila, Payton Linnehan (DRAFT), Christine Sinclair, Sophia Smith, Morgan Weaver
