STATESBORO, Ga – South Georgia Tormenta FC is excited to announce Sebastian Vivas on a one-year deal with an option for 2025, pending league and federation approval. The 27-year-old goal scorer joins the club following a successful 2023 campaign with Dock Sud in the Argentinian Primera B.
During the 2023 campaign, Vivas started 31 of his 32 appearances while accumulating 2658 minutes. He netted 13 goals for Dock Sud including a hat trick against Deportivo Merlo on Apri 6, 2023. Vivas finished tied for the Golden Boot with Lautaro Villegas of Talleres with 13 goals each. His contributions earned him a place in the Primera B Metropolitan Best 11 for the 2023 season.
Vivas and Dock Sud finished finished second in the 2023 Primera B Metropolitana Apertura and 15th in the Primera B Metropolitana Clausura.
Prior to joining Dock Sud, Vivas spent two seasons in the Primera C with Deportivo Español. During the 2021 and 2022 season, Vivas tallied 16 total goals netting eight goals in each campaign.
Head Coach Ian Cameron spoke on his newest signing saying, “When you watch Sebastian play you see unbridled passion to compete and win, paired with a really good instinct for where the ball might arrive for scoring opportunities. Strikers can be cut in all shapes and sizes but we knew we wanted a team player, someone comfortable occupying the opponents backline with physicality and constant movement. We’re excited to see Sebastian present himself to our fans, and to furthermore welcome his young family to our community.”
Vivas spoke about the move to the United States saying, “Estoy muy contento de formar parte de este gran Club. Tanto en lo profesional como en lo personal, me siento muy contento y afortunado de poder estar compitiendo en esta liga. Voy aprovechar al mÃ-imo esta oportunidad que se me brinda, espero cumplir sus expectativas tanto como las mias.”
