Sidekicks Fall Short to Milwaukee Wave After Tight Battle

Sidekicks Fall to Strykers on Second Match of Weekend Doubleheader

Milwaukee, WI – The Dallas Sidekicks went on the road to Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon to face the Milwaukee Wave for the third time in a four-game Series across the season.

The first quarter started strong with both sides creating chances but did not translate into goals. The Sidekicks scored the first goal of the game after Milwaukee Wave player, Tony Walls committed a foul on the play. Gustavo Piedra passed the ball to Blas Pérez and he scored. This was the only goal scored in the quarter despite the Wave having 10 shots on goal compared to Sidekicks 7.


The Wave responded quickly in the second quarter with a goal by Marcio Leite at the 3:56-minute mark. Like the first quarter, this was the only goal in the quarter, but the Wave had significantly more shots on goal with 10, and Sidekicks only had 2 shots. At halftime, the score was tied at 1.

In the third quarter, Wave player, Andre Hayne was awarded a blue card for tripping. 28 seconds into the Sidekicks power play, Albert Rodriguez chipped the ball to Blas Pérez and headed it into the net regaining the lead for the Sidekicks. Four minutes later, the Wave tied the game back up with a goal by Derek Huffman. Albert Rodriguez then was awarded a blue card for kicking and the Wave capitalized on the man advantage with a goal by Ricardo Carvalho. For the first time in the game, the Wave had the lead at 2-3.

Sidekicks rookie forward, David Texeira tied the game and scored his first professional indoor goal at the 3:11 minute mark. Two minutes later, Wave player, Ian Bennett scored regaining the lead for the Wave. The Sidekicks tried to tie the game back up with two different chances during the quarter with one being overturned by a foul on the play and the other deemed not to have crossed the line completely. The final score was 3-4.

The Sidekicks cross the border to Mexico as they take on the Chihuahua Savage for the first time this season on Friday at 8 PM.
