Atlético Ottawa Says Goodbye to All-Time Appearance Leader, Defender Miguel Acosta

OTTAWA, ON – Atlético Ottawa has today confirmed the departure of the club’s all-time record appearance holder, Spanish defender Miguel Acosta.

Acosta, 25, joined Atlético ahead of the 2021 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season and went on to feature 85 times for the club (all competitions), becoming Ottawa’s all-time appearance holder last season. The Spaniard scored four (4) goals, provided six (6) assists and established himself as one of the best right-backs in the CPL during his first two seasons.

The versatile defender was named as one of the four club captains ahead of the 2023 CPL season, often playing out of his favoured position and was voted “Player of the Year” by Atlético’s official supporters group, Capital City Supporters Group (CCSG).
