Burnley have confirmed the loan signing of striker David Datro Fofana from Chelsea with a sensational ET-inspired announcement video on social media.

As reported by Mail Sport, talks between both clubs had accelerated in recent days with Fofana undergoing a medical and officially putting pen to paper.

He was recalled from his temporary stint with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga and jetted to the UK, though he arrived too late to feature in yesterday’s draw with Luton.

His new club have earned a reputation for their creative way of unveiling new signings, having previously used references to Toy Story, Shrek and Gavin & Stacey.

The latest saw them take a clip from 1980s film ET and place Fofana over the top of the alien during the iconic flying scene, with the forward shouting ‘Up The Clarets!’

The clip, used directly from the movie itself, began with Elliot cycling through a misty forest, with ET perched at the front. The alien then allowed the bike to fly.

As the frame moved up above the trees, Fofana’s face was briefly visible once again.

The announcement ended with the bike flying in front of the moon, one of Steven Spielberg’s most memorable shots, before the club badge appeared on the screen.

In another nod to the film, the post’s caption read: ‘I found him, he belongs to me.’

Fofana told Burnley’s website: ‘It feels very good to be here, I’m really happy. I think it will be a really good place for me to progress and it’s the perfect move for me.

‘To work with Vincent Kompany will be very good. I have seen a couple of games already and I think this is the right place for me to make the next steps.
