Trio Selected in NWSL Draft

STANFORD, Calif. – A trio of Cardinal players were selected in the 2024 NWSL Draft on Friday night, with Maya Doms and Kennedy Wesley drafted in the first round before Katie Duong was drafted in the fourth.

Doms was first off the board, nabbed with the eighth overall pick by expansion team Bay FC. Wesley followed shortly after, taken four picks later at No. 12 by San Diego Wave FC. The Portland Thorns selected Duong with their final pick at No. 53 overall.

The native of Davis, Calif. started all 25 matches for the Cardinal and scored a team-best 12 goals and assisted on six more to total 30 points this year. Doms scored in 12 of the 25 matches, including each of the final three, six of the last eight, and nine of the final 15. Her 12 goals ranked second in the Pac-12 and 24th nationally, while the 30 points were third in the conference and 24th in the nation.

Wesley finished her career as Stanford’s all-time leader in matches played (104) and ranked ninth in games started (92). The native of Rossmoor, Calif. started the final 60 matches in her career and played in 104 of a possible 106 matches while on The Farm.
