Brentford have asked about Marseille’s Brazilian international left back Renan Lodi as Thomas Frank looks to fortify his back line in the January transfer window

The Bees have been in a desperate run of form, and are currently without a win since the start of December, most recently drawing 1-1 with Wolves in their FA Cup third round clash last week.

As a result, the west London outfit are at risk of being drawn into the relegation battle and are dangling precariously close to the bottom three on 19 points in 16th.

Much of the speculation heading into January had been over the future of star striker Ivan Toney, who had been linked with a move to Arsenal, but with the English star seemingly set to stay, the club are now linked with Lodi.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Atletico Madrid, before signing for the French side over the summer.

In 23 games this term he has provided just one assist in all competitions, but is part of a Marseille side down in sixth, some 13 points behind Luis Enrique’s leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bees have signed Turkish midfielder Yunus Emre Konak, 18, from Sivasspor for £4million, after he turned 18 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, both Fulham and Everton are monitoring Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka in case he is allowed out on loan.

Onyeka has made 16 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, providing one assist, but has only played more than half an hour on seven occasions.

The 26-year-old’s lack of a prominent role in the side has sparked speculation that he could be looking for more regular minutes elsewhere.
