Eleven days into the new year and things are heating up in the transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham completing loan deals for Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner.

Far bigger things could be on the horizon in the summer, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing a move for Erling Haaland should they fail in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

Reports in France on Sunday night indicated Mbappe had agreed to join Real next season, just over 18 months after rejecting a move to LaLiga in favour of remaining at the Parc des Princes.

But Real Madrid are reportedly growing concerned the 2018 World Cup winner may not leave after all and are ready to turn their attention to Haaland.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta has identified Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi as the perfect solution to his midfield conundrum, while Bournemouth are adamant they will not sell Dominic Solanke in January.

Real Madrid are assessing the possibility of signing Erling Haaland amid increasing doubts Kylian Mbappe will leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. Reports in France over the weekend suggested the 2018 World Cup winner had agreed to join Real, but the LaLiga giants have set him a deadline of January 15 to make a decision. (AS – in Spanish)

Bournemouth have told Newcastle to forget about signing Dominic Solanke in January after the Magpies enquired about his availability. The 26-year-old has scored 12 goals in 19 Premier League appearances this season. (The Telegraph)
