Timo Werner has completed his first training session with Tottenham after his loan move from RB Leipzig was sealed on Tuesday.

The Germany international arrived in London on Sunday to finalise terms with Tottenham and undergo a medical, having been given permission to travel from his parent club’s training camp in La Manga, Spain.

Spurs officially announced the move in a statement on Tuesday evening, which read: ‘We are delighted to announce the signing of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, subject to international clearance.

‘The Germany international will join the Club on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. He will wear the number 16 shirt.’

Negotiations around the structure of the transfer were finalised on Saturday with Tottenham agreeing to pay Werner’s estimated £4.5million salary for the rest of the season in full.

And with the deal inked, Spurs were keen to show their new signing quick to hit the ground running in his first training session on Wednesday.

In a video shared by Tottenham, Werner was pictured taking part in an indoor gym session alongside his new team-mates, before working outside on a cold London afternoon.

The video also included a welcome speech from the 27-year-old’s new head coach Ange Postecoglou.

‘Morning lads, just before we get into training, I just want to welcome Timo to the group and again, welcome mate,’ Postecoglou said to his gathered players.

‘We wish you all the best from everyone here. From my perspective, we talk about family a lot.

‘Part of our process is that people can come in. I think we’ve made them feel comfortable on and off the field, and I think that he can help us because he’s here for his career, but he’s here to help us as well.
