The agent of Tottenham target Radu Dragusin has admitted the he is shocked that the defender turned down a move to Bayern Munich.

Spurs are close to securing the £25million signing of Dragusin after agreeing a deal with Genoa, though Bayern tried to hijack the deal and take the centre back to Germany.

It appears, however, that the players chose to joining Tottenham over the German champions, with the move expected to be finalised in the coming days, which will see him become the club’s second signing of the transfer window after Timo Werner.

Out of favour defender Tottenham defender Djed Spence, who returned from a loan spell at Leeds last week, is expected to head on loan to the Italian side as a sweetener in the deal.

Bayern’s bid left the player with a decision to make and his agent, Florin Manea, has explained via GSP that there was really only one call to make.

‘We can’t believe we turned down Bayern,’ Manea said. ‘Radu had given Spurs his word to Spurs and chose to respect this. We’re still mind blown a bit.’

Tottenham identified a centre back as a priority position to sign in the transfer window, with full backs Emerson Royal and Ben Davies recently deputising for the injured Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Davies, however, picked up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup win over Burnley on Friday, meanining the club are now scraping the barrel even further, despite Van de Ven’s return to fitness.

Eric Dier is reportedly of interest to Bayern Munich, who made a late effort on Tuesday to secure the services of Dragusin, 21.
