Tottenham are in talks over bringing Timo Werner back to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea forward is subject of serious interest from Spurs, who are in talks with Red Bull Leipzig over a loan deal until the end of the season.

Tottenham have lost captain Heung-min Son for a period of time, with the striker away with Korea at the Asia Cup.

And Werner can help plug the whole left by Tottenham’s star forward in the short term and add depth to Ange Postecoglou’s attacking options moving forward.

Werner has also attracted interest from Manchester United, who remain in the market for a forward in January.

In his 14 appearances across all competitions this season, the Germany international has only scored twice and registered a further assist.

But Ange Postecoglou‘s side could be the team to hand him a return to Premier League action, beating out rivals for the forward’s signature Manchester United.

The Red Devils began circling Werner in late 2023, and were widely expected to be the front runners for his signature if he was prepared to move on in the January window.

Aston Villa were also thought to be interested in signing the former Blues forward.

But Mail Sport understands that Leipzig and Tottenham are clarifying terms including the fee and whether the deal should include an option to buy, but talks remain positive.

Werner is believed to be set to leave Marco Rose’s camp over the weekend to fly to north London.

The potential signing will come as a blow to Erik ten Hag, who is keen to bolster his attacking ranks during the January window.
