Church Welcomes Harvard All-American Bebar for 2024

DURHAM – Duke women’s soccer head coach Robbie Church is quietly adding some impressive pieces to the 2024 roster as he announced Thursday the addition of former Harvard All-American Hannah Bebar via the transfer portal.

One of the top midfielders in the nation, Bebar concluded an impressive three-year stint with the Crimson.  She plans to pursue graduate studies at Duke in 2024-25.

“I’m extremely grateful to be attending Duke and get the chance to compete for such an incredible program,” said Bebar.  “The warm welcome from the coaches and players instantly made me feel like a part of the team. I look forward to the athletic and academic challenges of such a prestigious university. I can’t wait to get started!”

Bebar, a native of Naperville, Ill., joins fellow transfers Farrah Walters (Santa Clara), Mia Oliaro (North Carolina) and Ella Hase (Northwestern).  The four transfers have combined to play in 141 matches with 132 starts, scored 48 goals, added 42 assists and notched 138 points over their careers.

A two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American, Bebar started 45-of-47 matches over the last three years at Harvard.  She accumulated 17 goals, 25 assists and 59 points, including seven game-winning tallies.  Bebar appeared in 3,528 minutes and helped lead the Crimson to three straight appearances in the NCAA Championship.  She guided Harvard to the first Ivy League Tournament Championship in 2023 with a 3-0 victory over Columbia.

Bebar accumulated numerous accolades over her three seasons in Boston.  She was a three-time All-Ivy First Team selection, a 2022 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy semifinalist, 2022 United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, 2021 United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American, a 2023 Hermann Trophy watch list selection, three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region, 2021 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.

This past season Bebar started all 19 matches, while registering six goals, seven assists and 19 points in a career-high 1,485 minutes.

Her 59 career points ranked 11th on the Harvard record books and her 25 assists was tied for sixth.  Bebar was only the fifth Harvard player to earn multiple All-America honors.  She is a former No. 1 recruit in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer,…
