Calgary, AB – The Canadian Premier League (CPL) today unveiled the 2023 CPL Best XI Fuelled by Gatorade, honouring the league’s top players at each position through this year’s entire season, culminating in the 2023 CPL Final.
Daan Klomp left a lasting impression this season after being the only outfield player to have played every minute of every match for the club this season, while also netting five goals and providing one assist in 31 appearances during the regular season and CPL Playoffs. In recognition of his immense efforts defensively and as a key player in the club’s title-winning season, Klomp was awarded with both CPL Defender of the Year and Player of the Year and has now joined the Best XI Fuelled by Gatorade.
Ali Musse made an immense impact throughout the 2023 season for Cavalry, where he netted seven goals and provided eight assists in 29 appearances during the regular season and CPL Playoffs. Having consistent back-to-back 2022 and 2023 seasons, he leads the team in chances created and is one of the top ranked in the league in shots, crosses and corners, passes in the opposition’s box, and possession won in the final third. He has made himself known widely across the league, as he was selected by players across the league as the winner of the Player’s Player of the Year Award and has now joined the Best XI Fuelled by Gatorade.
