Saudi Pro League director of football Michael Emenalo has revealed the Saudi Pro League are ‘not shying away’ from more January transfer signings. 

The state-backed league spent an incredible £750m in one window to bring in a host of global footballing superstars. 

Of the £750m-plus outlay, more than £680m was splashed by the four PIF-owned clubs which is not surprising given they are backed by a fund worth an estimated £538bn. 

Players like Neymar, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte joined Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East as the league looked to grow in influence. 

And now Emenalo has revealed more signings should be expected in the January window as the league continues to flirt with Superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking to Sky Sports Kaveh Solhekol Emenalo said: ‘We are not shying away… but we are always ready to make signings and we have the capability to go in and compete [in the January market].

‘Acquisitions of foreign players is a big part of what we want to do, but it’s not the aspect we’re focused on. 

‘What we do in this coming window could also depend on manoeuvres in terms of players moving out to be able to bring players in.’

The first window was such a success that perhaps the only issue was failing to lure their three main targets in Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah. 

On Mbappe Emenalo insisted: ‘It’s an open conversation, but we don’t know what he wants to do. Our position is very clear – any of these players know where we are.

‘If there’s any interest in being part of what we are trying to build now or for the future, you can’t turn down an opportunity to see if Mbappe can join us. Kylian is someone I love as a…
