Cavalry FC Draws Florida Powerhouse in Concacaf Champions Cup

Calgary, AB – Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) has been drawn
against Orlando City SC following tonight’s draw for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The draw took place this evening at 5:00p.m. MT, live from Miami, FL. Cavalry FC was in pot two and will
face Major League Soccer (MLS) side Orlando City SC in the first round of the tournament. Round one of
the Concacaf Champions Cup will commence in February, with exact fixture dates to be determined.


This will mark the second time the American club has qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup. Orlando
qualified for the tournament after finishing second in the 2023 Supporters Shield Standings and rank 11th
overall in the Concacaf Club Rankings.

“Orlando City are a team that have proven to be a very strong MLS club, with a terrific fan base,” said
Tommy Wheeldon Jr. Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC. “Under coach Óscar Pareja, they
have proven to be tactically organized and play a good brand of football. We are looking forward to the
challenge.”

The 2024 edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup saw several changes made to the tournament, one of
which being adding a second CPL club to the competition, with the winner of the CPL Regular Season
being added. Cavalry FC clinched its berth in the tournament after claiming the 2023 CPL Regular
Season title.

The fixtures will take place over two legs in a home and away series. The winner of the matchup will be
determined on aggregate and will advance to the Round of 16, where the club will face the winner of the
matchup between Tigres UANL and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
