Wolves defender Jonny Otto was exiled from the squad for ‘swinging an elbow at a player, destroying the players’ room and SPITTING at a coach’ as he’s forced to train away from the first team

News that Jonny was banished from the squad surfaced last week but it was unclear why

Wolves defender Jonny Otto was reportedly exiled from the first team after swinging an elbow towards an U21 player.

Jonny hasn’t played for his club since the end of September, and it seems unlikely he will again after a training ground bust-up that saw him also reportedly damage players’ things and spit at a member of the coaching staff.

The player Jonny is said to have clashed with is forward Tawanda Chirewa, who joined from Ipswich in 2019. He has scored two goals in three Premier League 2 games this season and has been on the bench for Wolves in their last three matches.

Wolves confirmed last week that Jonny would train away from the Wolves first team until the end of January, with many believing all parties would seek for the Spaniard to secure a move away in the transfer window.

And it appears, following a report from The Athletic, that the reasons why are now clear.

Reports claim he swung an elbow at a player and spat at a member of the coaching staff

The incident is claimed to have happened on the training ground, with Jonny sent home after destroying items in the players’ room

Jonny is believed to have attacked Chirewa during a clash in a training session at Compton Park.

He is then claimed to have spat at a member of the coaching staff that tried to pull him away from the clash, and then going onto damage items in the players’ room.

It is said that Jonny was angered by a challenge from Chirewa in training, in the build-up to Wolves’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates on December 2. He is not said to have made contact with the attempted elbow.

Chirewa is believed to have finished the session, though Jonny was ordered to leave the field and go into the buildings at the training ground, where it is claimed he smashed a TV and damaged a table before being sent home.

Jonny has since apologised for the incident and is allowed to feature in youth team matches.

Wolves sporting director, Matt Hobbs has explained how the future has been outlined to Jonny and how the club look to move forward.

‘I’ve sat down with him, he’s apologised, and we have outlined the way forward,’ Hobbs said. ‘We had a conversation and have agreed that at least until the end of…
