LOS ANGELES – In a significant offseason move, Angel City Football Club (ACFC) announced today that they have agreed to trades with both Bay FC and Utah Royals FC in exchange for full protection from the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft, ensuring that no ACFC players will be available for selection during Friday’s draft.

ACFC will receive $50,000 in allocation money and draft protection from Bay FC in exchange for forward Scarlett Camberos. Utah Royals FC will receive a 2024 international spot and $100,000 in exchange for ACFC’s draft protection.

“Securing Expansion Draft protection is massive for our club and a great way to head into 2024,” said ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “From day one, Angel City has made clear that our commitment is to player development and growth. Providing players with the certainty that they are protected heading into the draft was extremely important and we are happy that we were able to get it done.”

“Moreover, the deal made for Scarlett Camberos to go to Bay FC serves both the club’s competitive goals and Scarlett’s desired path of development. We wish her nothing but the best in her bright young career,” Hucles Mangano continued.

Camberos signed with ACFC on March 29, 2023, coming off of two seasons with Club América of Liga MX Femenil. During her stint with ACFC, she compiled two goals and five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions in 2023. Camberos has also been a member of the Mexican Women’s National Team since 2022, where she has earned two caps, tallying 120 minutes in international competition.

The 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft, presented by Ally, will be held this Friday, December 15, airing live on CBS Sports Network with coverage beginning at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET.

The NWSL will announce the list of players protected from Expansion Draft selection by each club on Dec 13. Per league rules, teams are able to protect a total of nine (9) players, which may include one (1) U.S. allocated player.
