Mirkovic Collects First Team All-South Region Honors For Second Straight Season


PITTSBURGH – Senior midfielder Filip Mirkovic was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

The senior earned the first team nod for the second straight season as the Panthers have now seen 19 athletes earn the All-Region recognition including 15 under head coach Jay Vidovich‘s watch. Mirkovic joins Valentin Noel and Jasper Löeffelsend as the only Panthers to earn First Team honors multiple times.

Mirkovic had another standout season for the Panthers in the midfield as he led the squad with nine assists to go along with 25 shots. His nine assists were the third most in the ACC and 15th most in the NCAA this season. The senior had the best game of his Pitt career in a 5-1 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson as he tied a program record with four assists including one on the game-winning goal.

The Manhattan, NY native concludes his impressive Pitt career as one of the best midfielders to do it as he helped lead the Panthers to an unprecedented two College Cups. For his career, he racked up nine goals, 28 assists and 46 points on 104 shots across 75 matches. His 28 assists are a program record for assists in a career while his .37 assists per game ranks fourth all-time and his .61 points per game is seventh best in program history.
