December 4, 2023 – United Soccer League One (USL1)Forward Madison FC News Release

MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC has re-signed 26-year-old defender, Jacob Crull, pending league and federation approval. The Austrian native has just finished his fourth season in the USL League One and debut season with the Pink and Blue.

Crull made a note-worthy first impression, with two goals, one assist, 88 clearances, 17 blocks, and 31 interceptions. He led the League in passes (1,968) and led the ‘Mingos in tackles (65). Crull locked down the left side of the field during the 2023 season, earning him a spot on the USL All-League Second Team. He will look to continue his dominant defense and counterattack strength for year two with Forward.

“We’re pleased to bring back Jake to our environment and feel he will be a key contributor in coming seasons,” said Head Coach Matt Glaeser. “As a 2nd Team All-League honoree, Jake had a very strong campaign with us last year and we are excited to help him continue to grow as a player in order to reach our goals in 2024.”

Crull played collegiately at Spring Arbor University as both a left-back and a left-winger. Crull accumulated 23 goals and 50 assists while he earned two-time NAIA All-American honors in consecutive seasons. After finishing up at Spring Arbor, Crull joined the Charlotte Eagles in the USL League Two from 2018-2019.

In 2020, he signed with Union Omaha and helped his squad earn their first USL League One Cup in 2021. Crull then transferred to FC Tucson for a season, where he played in every match, tallied two goals, and ranked third on the team in chances created (23).

The ‘Mingos will play their first home match of the season on Saturday, April 13th against Henny Derby rivals, Richmond Kickers. Season tickets for the 2024 Forward Madison season are on sale now.
