Memphis 901 FC Sporting Director Tim Howard Named to National Soccer Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Memphis 901 FC Signs Midfielder Bruno Lapa to Multi-Year Contract

Memphis, Tenn. – The National Soccer Hall of Fame today announced members of its 2024 class, including USMNT legend and Memphis 901 FC Sporting Director Tim Howard.

Howard was elected in his first year of eligibility with 95.6% of ballots voting for his election into the prestigious group. He was surprised with the news live on air during his coverage of the English Premier League on Saturday.


“I’m incredibly honored,” he said. “When you play football, you play for the love and play for the glory, and hopefully along the way, you do some things. It’s really incredible.”

Howard collected 121 USMNT appearances, including three FIFA World Cups, and 13 seasons in the English Premier League, then made 100 appearances with the Colorado Rapids before he was named Sporting Director for Memphis 901 FC in 2020. Howard also made six starts in goal for 901 FC during the shortened 2020 season.

The election process is administered by National Soccer Hall of Fame staff under election and eligibility guidelines established by the Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
