NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Six Vanderbilt soccer student-athletes were named Academic All-District on Tuesday afternoon. Caroline Betts, Rachel Deresky, Kate Devine, Hannah McLaughlin, Addie Porter and Alex Wagner all earned recognition from College Sports Communicators.

The recognition presented by CSC (formerly CoSIDA), advances all six to the ballot for Academic All-America honors. To be named Academic All-District, student-athletes must possess a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and compete in at least 90 percent of matches or start in at least 66 percent of contests.

Betts currently is a double major in medicine, health and society and psychology. The Nashville, Tennessee, native is a two-time Dean’s List member and has also been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. This year, Betts appeared in all 18 matches with two starts. The sophomore matched career bests in every category this season with one goal and one assist for three points.

Deresky is majoring in human and organizational development and has earned Dean’s List recognition on three occasions and been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll twice. The junior from Dunkirk, Maryland, started in every match this season and posted a team-high seven goals and 18 points. After missing most of the 2022 campaign due injury, Deresky posted career bests in goals, assists, points and minutes played during the 2023 season.

Devine is majoring in human and organizational development. The Brentwood, Tennessee, native has made the Dean’s List four times and SEC Academic Honor Roll three times. The goalkeeper competed in all 18 games during her senior season and posted 41 saves in 1,476 minutes played while tallying a career-best seven solo shutouts and nine combined shutouts.

McLaughlin is a human and organizational development major from Cumming, Georgia, and was named to the Dean’s List and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll after her freshman year in 2022. She was a pivotal member of Vanderbilt’s defense during the 2023 campaign, which posted nine shutouts. McLaughlin played in every game of the season, tallied two goals and one assist for five points on the year, and was named to Second Team All-SEC.

Porter has a a major in communication studies. The Asheville, North Carolina, native has been named to the Dean’s List and SEC Honor Roll two times each. The junior appeared in all 18 contests for the Commodores last season and posted a career-high 10 points on the year with a career-high…
