San Diego Wave FC midfielder Emily van Egmond has been named to the 23-player Australian roster for the final international matches of 2023.

The Matildas will face Canada at Starlight Stadium in Victoria on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. PT before closing out the year at BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. PT.


Van Egmond has appeared in 137 for Australia, following a successful World Cup showing on home soil. The Matildas finished a historic fourth place at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The call-up for van Egmond marked her fourth World Cup with the Matildas, as the midfielder has been a prominent figure for her country since 2010, earning her first cap at just 16 years of age.

This season for San Diego, van Egmond appeared in 11 games (10 starts), while being a key midfield presence for the Wave.
