Bayern Munich are in advanced talks to re-sign Jerome Boateng as a free agent.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the defender has given his approval for the move, which is set to be finalised within the next 24-48 hours.

The 35-year-old has been training with Bayern, who are looking to sign him to provide cover at centre-back.

Boateng has been a free agent since his Lyon contract expired at the end of June.

The former Germany international spent ten years at Bayern between 2011 and 2021.

During his time at Bayern, Boateng made 363 appearances for the club.

He won an array of trophies, including two Champions Leagues, nine Bundesliga titles and five DFB-Pokals.

With Matthijs De Ligt having suffered an injury setback, Bayern are now looking to bring back Boateng.

Prior to joining Bayern, Boateng played for Hertha, Hamburg and Manchester City.

Bayern are currently in third place in the Bundesliga, two points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
