The Story:
After their first win at Exploria Stadium in 2023, the Pride transitions into UKG Challenge Cup play where they will look for their first Challenge Cup win squaring off against the Washington Spirit.
Wednesday’s matchup against the Washington Spirit will serve as the Club’s first away match of the tournament. The Pride opened Challenge Cup play on April 19 at Exploria Stadium, battling to a 1-1 draw with the North Carolina Courage.
Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse recorded her first clean sheet of her NWSL career during the Club’s last match against Racing Louisville, while Amanda Allen made her NWSL debut, becoming the youngest player to take the field in Pride history.
Quote of the Week:
“[This match] is about focusing on ourselves. They [Washington Spirit] may not rotate, they may want to build on what they’ve already achieved. We have to focus on ourselves and we have to focus on the bigger picture and that’s obviously the schedule as a whole and the league as a whole. The Challenge Cup is another opportunity to give players minutes on the field and another opportunity for us to stake our identity again.”
– Head Coach Seb Hines
