LOS ANGELES – Playing their eighth match of the 2023 campaign, LA Galaxy II fell 5-0 at home to Colorado Rapids 2 at Dignity Health Sports Park’s Track & Field Stadium on Sunday night.
LA Galaxy Academy
Seven players with ties to the LA Galaxy Academy started in the match against Colorado: Carson Klein, Allan Legaspi, Riley Dalgado, Diego López, Adam Saldaña, Alex Alcalá and Jonathan Pérez. Additionally, four players with ties to the LA Galaxy Academy appeared as substitutes against Rapids 2: Juan Calderón, Adrián González, Brandon Téllez and Javier Zapien. Notably, Zapien made his professional debut, logging seven minutes in the loss to Colorado.
Goal-Scoring Plays
COL – Marlon Vargas (Alex Gersbach), 17th minute: Marlon Vargas took down Alex Gersbach’s floated cross and his shot from inside the penalty area was laced into the lower right corner of the goal.
COL – Yosuke Hanya (Oliver Larraz), 42nd minute: OIiver Larraz delivered a curling cross into the side of the six-yard box to Yosuke Hanya, who headed the ball into the top left corner.
COL – Daniel Garcia, 51st minute: Daniel Garcia scored from inside the six-yard box with his right foot.
COL – Yosuke Hanya (Oliver Larraz), 58th minute: Yosuke Hanya’s low shot from the right side of the six-yard box found the back of the net.
