GK: Ederson (Man City)
The perfect keeper for Manchester City but by no means the perfect goalkeeper, certainly not this season, having conceded five more goals that his xGA. Only Illan Meslier and Gavin Bazunu have a lower saves percentage (60.9 per cent).
LB: Kieran Tierney (Arsenal)
The Scotland defender has lost his place to Oleksandr Zinchenko this season but Tierney has still played a part in 23 Premier League games. And his ropey form isn’t deterring Manchester City, apparently, with Newcastle and Villa also interested.
CB: Clement Lenglet (Tottenham)
The France centre-back has struggled in a wretched defence – they’ve conceded at least 15 more than any of the six sides above them – and Lenglet has struggled to convince Spurs why they should give £10million to Barcelona to make his loan stay a permanent one.
CB: Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea)
One of only two Chelsea representatives in this XI which we expected to be riddled with Blues. Chalobah was used sparingly by Thomas Tuchel but played more under Graham Potter and has featured in every game for which Frank Lampard has been in charge.
RB: Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal)
The Arsenal defender has been missing since March when he sustained a season-ending knee injury. Prior to that, Tomiyasu made only six starts, with Ben White preferred at right-back.
MF: Fabio Vieira (Arsenal)
The Portuguese midfielder has found the Premier League tough going since joining Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon for £30million last summer. Emmanuel Petit has labelled that move ‘a mistake’ on the Gunners’ part and if you’d struggle to argue if you watched him on his most recent start in the 3-3 draw with Southampton.
MF: Yves Bissouma (Tottenham)
The Spurs midfielder returned from an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Palace on Saturday having been sidelined since the win over Man City at the start of February, In that time, Spurs have had three different managers. The one who signed him, Antonio Conte, said earlier in the season that Bissouma was ‘struggling with the tactical aspect’, hence why he wasn’t starting as often as we expected when he was signed from Brighton.
MF: James Milner (Liverpool)
Flying the flag for Liverpool is 72-year-old Milner, who looks set to join Brighton next…
