QUEENS, N.Y. – New England Revolution II (3-3-1; 11 pts.) fell to New York City FC II (3-1-1; 10 pts.), 4-2, on Saturday night at Belson Stadium. Marcos Dias tallied his second brace in as many games as New England played the final 26 minutes with 10 men after Peyton Miller was shown a second yellow card in the second half.


New York found the scoresheet first with John Denis’ tally in the 11th minute. New England equalized with Marcos Dias drawing a penalty in the box as the Brazilian forward stepped up to tally his third penalty kick goal in two matches, and the two sides headed into halftime with one goal apiece.

Jordan Adebayo-Smith drew a foul in the box to give Revolution II its second penalty kick opportunity of the night in the 70th minute, allowing Dias to earn his second brace of the season. New York City went on to equalize in the 82nd minute and took control of the match with two penalty kick goals of their own in the final minutes as New England would walk away with its third loss of the season.

Revolution II returns to action on Sunday, May 14 to take on Toronto FC II at York Lions University Stadium. The 7 p.m. match will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Forward Marcos Dias tallied his third and fourth goals of the season with two penalty kick opportunities, marking the seventh brace in team history. Dias recorded three shots on target in the match and now leads Revolution II with four goals on the year.

Defender Pierre Cayet logged the full 90 in the 50th appearance of his career with Revolution II.

Midfielder Ezra Widman entered the match in the 85th minute to become the 28th Revolution Academy player to make his professional debut with New England’s second team to date.

Goalkeeper Nico Campuzano made five saves in the match.

Defender Jacob Akanyirige logged the full 90 in his 20th start in MLS NEXT Pro.

Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith recorded three shots with one on target in his 84 minutes of action.
