CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Lexington Sporting Club dropped a 3-1 decision on the road against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC Saturday evening. Lexington SC (1-4-1, 4 points) held a brief lead thanks to a second-half goal from Soso Kim, but the Red Wolves (2-2-1, 7 points) responded with two scores in quick succession to take control inside CHI Memorial Stadium. Lexington had the first true attempt of the evening in the seventh minute, as a quality build up culminated in a backheel pass from Will Baynham to Tate Robertson, who had his left-footed shot saved by Ricardo Jerez.

The visitors had to make an unplanned substitution in the 20th minute when Terique Mohammed suffered an injury, bringing Drew Patterson in off the bench.

Both sides fell stagnant on the attack until Robertson nearly connected with Ates Diouf on a headed effort in the 36th minute.

Baynham and Charlie Machell followed with shots of their own shortly after, and Patterson later delivered a bicycle kick on target after a Lexington SC corner kick sequence, but the two sides went into the half in a scoreless draw.

Chattanooga was held without a shot until the 44th minute, recording no shots on target and a meager 0.05 expected goals to Lexington’s 0.51, despite maintaining a slight 52%-48% advantage in possession.

Lexington keeper Austin Causey was called to action for the first time in the 51st minute, making a save on a shot from Ernesto Espinoza.

Kim, who replaced Baynham in the 72nd minute, made an immediate impact with the highlight of the match, dribbling past the defense before slotting home his first goal of the season to give Lexington a 1-0 lead.

It was short-lived, however, as the home side equalized on a set piece two minutes later and took the lead on a Lexington mishap in the 82nd minute. Chattanooga added a dagger in stoppage time to complete the wild second half.

The squad is off next weekend and returns home to face Charlotte Independence May 13 at Toyota Stadium.
