Chelsea may finally be able to land Achraf Hakimi when the transfer window re-opens with PSG planning a ‘squad overhaul’, according to a report.

The Blues were extremely interested in signing the Moroccan right-wing-back before he left Inter Milan for PSG in July 2021.

Hakimi later confirmed that he had an offer on the table from the Premier League side, but felt he “had to come to Paris”.

Despite being relatively new to the Ligue 1 champions, Chelsea remain linked with the 24-year-old.

Reece James could be facing a summer of uncertainty amidst interest from Real Madrid, and reigniting their interest in Hakimi might be the best way to go should their academy graduate depart.

Rumours of a move for Hakimi do not seem to be going away, with Manchester United also believed to be interested as Erik ten Hag pursues a new right-back.

James does have it in him to play as a central defender in a back three and even has experience playing in a defensive midfield role, so the idea of Hakimi joining is not too far-fetched.

The plan is to sign ‘more youngsters instead of signing established superstars’ which they believe will finally bring success in Europe.

The French club are set to get rid of ‘a number of players’ and Hakimi is one of the club’s most valuable assets and a player who is desirable.

‘Both Chelsea and Manchester United’ are interested and PSG would be willing to sell for a fee between £50-60million.

That fee is seen as ‘very reasonable’ after they paid £60m – including bonuses – for Hakimi in 2021.

Given the fact the defender is under contract until 2026, PSG will ‘stand firm’ over their valuation.

Despite the fact the Blues were keen under their previous ownership, they remain interested with Boehly at the helm.

Chelsea might have spent around £600m in less than a year, but they are expected to be busy again this summer.

They will look to sign a new striker having lacked…
