HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo 2 open a two-game road trip when they travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Sporting Kansas City II on Sunday, April 30.

Dynamo Dos enters the match following a 2-1 loss to the Tacoma Defiance at SaberCats Stadium on Sunday, April 23. Forward Beto Avila scored the lone goal for Dynamo 2 in the 47th minute after converting from the penalty spot.

SKC II enters Sunday three spots ahead of Houston in seventh place in the league standings. SKC II is returning home to Rock Chalk Stadium after back-to-back road games where they went 1-1-0 (WLD) during the stretch. SKC II is coming off a 3-2 loss to Eastern Conference foe FC Cincinatti 2 last weekend.

Houston will cross the northern border to take on Whitecaps 2 for the first time this season on Sunday, May 7. That match will be available on MLS Season Pass.

Here are three key points ahead of Sunday’s match:

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON: Despite the tough start to the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season, Houston Dynamo 2 head coach Kenny Bundy is optimistic about the direction of his squad. During his pregame availability this week, he mentioned that he believes the team is playing a lot more tactically sound compared to the inaugural season. Bundy emphasized that player development is one of the key values for the group. Bundy highlighted midfielder Diego Gonzalez as a player who has benefitted from MLS NEXT Pro and grown from being a role player last season to a main stay in the starting lineup this campaign.

CONECTING THE TEAM: Midfielder Jacob Evans, who has played both in the midfield and up top this season for Dynamo Dos leads MLS NEXT Pro in key passes. The second-year player from England has been a key figure for Dynamo 2 in the first two seasons of the team. Evans has made five starts this season and scored in Houston’s 3-1 road win over St. Louis CITY 2 on April 7.

MIX OF NEW AND FAMILAR FACES: Houston Dynamo 2 provides players at different stages in their careers with a platform to continue to develop and grow.
