Revolution Academy Forward Olger Escobar Called up to U-17 Guatemalan National Team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy Under-19, Under-17, and Under-15 teams continued their MLS NEXT spring season last weekend, taking on Intercontinental FA and Orlando City SC at Providence College.


The U-19s secured a 2-1 victory over Intercontinental FA on Sunday as Bryce Flowers (2005 – Sharon, Mass.) and Gianluca Armellino (2005 – Plainville, Mass.) both tallied two minutes apart in the first half.

The U-17s also recorded a 2-1 win in their match vs. Orlando City SC. Eric Martinez (2006- Perris, Calif.) evened the score in the 44th minute as Aidan Reilly (2007 – Pembroke, Mass.) notched the game-winner in the 77th minute to secure the U-17s sixth win of the spring season.

The U-15s fell in their game vs. Orlando, 2-1. Cristiano Carlos (2008 – Chicopee, Mass.) tallied in the 8th minute, extending his team lead to 11 goals on the year.

The U-19s and U-14s are now set to face Oakwood and Bayside FC while the U-15s and U-17s prepare to host Atlanta United and Charlotte FC this weekend. Revolution MLS & MLS NEXT Highlights:

U-17 forward Olger Escobar (2006 – Malden, Mass.) became the 27th Academy player to make his professional debut with Revolution II, entering in the 71st minute of last week’s match vs. New York Red Bulls II.

U-19 forward Gianluca Armellino (2005 – Plainville, Mass.) tallied his second goal in two weeks, notching the game-winner vs. Intercontinental FA in the 18th minute.

U-17 forward Eric Martinez (2006 – Perris, Calif.) tallied his team-leading 15th goal of the season on Sunday vs. Orlando City SC.

U-15 forward Cristiano Carlos (2008 – Chicopee, Mass.) scored his 11th goal of the season in his team’s match vs. Orlando City SC.
