Atletico Madrid are ‘growing more worried’ that Chelsea WON’T want to sign Joao Felix in the summer as the forward continues to struggle at Stamford Bridge – and they’re hoping Newcastle revive their interest

  • Felix has struggled form form at Chelsea and hasn’t helped their scoring issues
  • Madrid are keen to recruit at least £80million for the forward in the summer
  • Newcastle tried to sign Felix in January before he signed for Chelsea instead

Atletico Madrid are growing increasingly concerned that Chelsea will not buy Joao Felix in the summer, according to reports.

Felix has struggled for consistency since joining the Blues on a half-season loan deal in January, scoring just twice in 15 games for the club.

He signed for Chelsea to help try and solve the Blues’ goal scoring problem, but no solution has been found with the side failing to find the back of the net in five of their last six games.

There was no buy option included in the deal completed in January, but Atletico are keen to offload the forward to the London club.

According to Cadenaser, however, there are worries that Chelsea won’t be interested in doing business, meaning the Spanish club will again be stuck with what to do to offload the Portugal forward.

Felix signed a one-year contract in Madrid before moving in January that runs until 2027, and there have been reports that he has fallen out with manager Diego Simeone.

Madrid paid £113million to Benfica for the now-23-year-old in 2019, but he’s failed to settle at the club, scoring35 goals in 131 games, with four goals coming in 14 games before he joined Chelsea this year.

Atletico are said to want to recruit at least £80million of what was spent on the forward in a potential sale.
