Man City, Real Madrid set to battle for £70m Bayern Munich star as Guardiola eyes Cancelo replacement

Manchester City have reportedly ramped up their interest in Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, as they consider making a bid for him this summer.

The Canada international, who is one of the fastest players in Europe, will face City in the Champions League quarter-final second leg on Wednesday as Bayern aim to overturn a three-goal deficit at the Allianz Stadium.

It’s no secret that Pep Guardiola is looking to sign a new left-back this summer, so it will be interesting to see the Cityzens make a concrete offer for Davies in the coming months.

In that time, the defender has also helped the German giants to lift four Bundesliga titles, one Champions League and two DFB-Pokals, so he clearly has the experience required to perform at the highest level.

Davies also has plenty of admiration for one Man City player – Erling Haaland – who he came up against many times during the striker’s time at Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Davies said: “[Haaland is a] top striker.

“He’s on his way to becoming a legend in the game, can’t take anything away from him. He’s fast, he’s strong, he’s intelligent. Overall, he’s just a good player.

“I played against him in the Bundesliga and now playing here, can’t take anything away from him.”

Davies’ focus at the moment will no doubt be on playing against…
