‘Major Liverpool development’ as board ‘approve’ summer deal for ‘integral’ £70m Chelsea star

Liverpool target Mount

According to reports, the Liverpool board have ‘prepared and approved’ a big-money contract for Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount.

Liverpool are being heavily linked with midfielders ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The club need at least two additions in that area of the pitch with their current crop of midfielders ageing or out of form. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will need to be replaced as both players are out of contract in the summer.

Jude Bellingham has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent months. But his value has gone through the roof in recent months amid his form for Borussia Dortmund and England at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Reds have subsequently dropped out of the race to sign Bellingham and they will instead use their funds to recruit other players.

Chelsea midfielder Mount is understood to be one of the players they are looking at. He may be available this summer as his current deal is due to expire in 2024.
