THE NOTEBOOK: Diogo Jota reaps the rewards of his determination, Cody Gakpo chose wisely after picking Liverpool over Leeds and the Elland Road crowd were exemplary during minute’s applause

Liverpool looked somewhere close to their best on Monday night as they beat Leeds 6-1.

Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah both scored braces for the Reds, while Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo also found the net.

The only blot for the visitors was a goal from Luis Sinisterra, which came after a bad error from Ibrahim Konate.

It was just a fourth away win of the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men, and will concern Leeds fans who have now seen their side concede four or more goals in three of their last four games.

Sportsmail’s DOMINIC KING looks at some of the things you may have missed at Elland Road.

Jota, particularly during the opening half hour of the contest, was horribly out of sorts. He gave the ball in the 10th minute and, in total before half-time, he lost possession 15 times – by far the highest number of anyone on the pitch.

But one thing that could not be doubted was the Portuguese’s tenacity and determination and his pickpocketing of Weston McKennie to set up Liverpool’s second goal showcased his skills to maximum effect. Jurgen Klopp, clearly, was delighted for him.

Leaks United

Javi Garcia looked a solemn figure as the game ran away from his team and the worrying aspect now is that Leeds have the worst goals against column (60), having overtaken Bournemouth (59). The last clean sheet they kept was on February 25. Gracia must plug these leaks.

Good call for Gakpo
