SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC defender Lamar Batista has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, after contributing to a shutout of Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday.
Batista made 13 recoveries, six clearances and three interceptions in the 0-0 draw, winning six of seven aerial duels as well.
The recognition comes as the fifth-straight week to open the season with SAFC landing a player on the list. Batista has made an appearance three times in the young season, joining PC, Mitchell Taintor, Jordan Farr, Mohammed Abu and Connor Maloney on the lengthy list of San Antonio honorees.
Batista and SAFC are back on the field Saturday, traveling for a 2022 USL Championship Final rematch with Louisville City FC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and can be streamed on ESPN+.
