Racing and Its Academy to Host U.S. Youth Talent ID Camp

Racing Louisville FC and the Racing Louisville Academy will host a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center on Tuesday at the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center, a first for the National Women’s Soccer League club and its youth program.

U.S. Soccer Talent ID Centers operate nationally and are designed to replicate U.S. Youth National Team camps. The goal is to evaluate and identify up-and-coming American talent in key markets around the country and start the pathway to the Youth National Teams.

“We are looking forward to hosting the U.S. Soccer Talent ID camp at the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center,” said Mario Sanchez, the Youth Academy Director for the LouCity and Racing Academy. “This is a great opportunity to have some of the top talent in our region train at the facility. The young girls will also be able to watch and talk with our Racing Louisville pro players while attending the camp. Having events like these shows how important our facility is in developing young talent in our region.”

For Racing and its academy, holding the Talent ID Center is the latest recognition of the club’s world-class facilities and position in American soccer. Racing is one of only two American soccer clubs with a complete developmental pyramid topped by a professional team in the National Women’s Soccer League, widely regarded as the world’s best pro women’s soccer league.

Racing’s pro squad features several players who have come through the U.S. Soccer youth system, including Jess McDonald, who was on the senior U.S. national team that won the 2019 FIFA World Cup. Three other Racing players have been included in national team camps or appeared in matches for the U.S. Women’s National Team: captain Jaelin Howell, midfielder Savannah DeMelo and defender Carson Pickett.

The Racing Louisville Academy has teams from U8 to U19, plus a squad in the USL W League, a pre-professional women’s soccer circuit that primarily features collegiate players. Each of those teams train and play at Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center, sharing the facility with the Racing Louisville senior team.

Racing Louisville is operated by the same group, Soccer Holdings, LLC, as two-time USL Championship title winner Louisville City FC. The fast-growing organization hosts senior team games at 15,304 capacity Lynn Family Stadium.
